Happy New Year!!

January 2, 2025 · Uncategorized

How is it 2025?! It feels like 2024 FLEW by. I blame school, baseball, and hockey. Why? Because we’re always busy with one of them. Our entire calendar is dedicated to school, baseball, and hockey. Nothing going on at school tonight? Don’t worry, we have baseball or hockey.

It’s honestly exhausting and some times I’m ready to throw in the towel.

But I’ve convinced myself that I need to do it for my boys. Would the school function if I wasn’t helping? Probably. But, I’m too controlling to allow that, sooooo here we are.

Entering 2025 I think I really need to pull back a bit on my commitments. Our parent teacher group is fun and we have great parents involved, but it’s also time consuming and draining. It’s one of those situations where you’re never going to make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try. For instance, we ran a citrus sale thinking it would be a great fundraiser that everyone would love. Nothing could go wrong with a citrus sale, right?

Wrong.

The company did not send everything they were supposed to. Instead, we were forced to pass out incomplete orders and constantly follow up with the company to find out when the remaining items would be sent. The original items arrived 12/13 and our remaining items have still not arrived. We feel awful because most people were going to use this as a Christmas gift. Lesson learned, never deal with this company again. But, its definitely too much stress to deal with for a volunteer job.

Although I love planning awesome things for the kids, fundraisers cause stress and anxiety. I love the events and little things we do for the kids, but everything else is just a hassle. It’s hard begging people for money when they know the citrus sale was such a fail.

Anyone else have any failed fundraisers?!
