A Mom’s Weekend Recap
Hey everyone! Sorry for not blogging yesterday—looks like I finally caught the cold the boys had. It was bound to happen, right? Between school germs and the chaos of travel sports, I’m surprised I held out this long!
Even though I wasn’t feeling 100%, I couldn’t let a little cold stop me from my favorite weekend tradition. There’s something about the quiet comfort of baking that always makes me feel better, even when I’m under the weather.
Cold Season Hits Home
We’ve all been there—the entire house passes around the same cold until it finally lands on you. It’s one of those “mom life” moments when rest isn’t really an option, even when you’re not at your best. Thankfully, I was able to slow down a bit yesterday and take things easy. But the cookie baking? That was non-negotiable! Although I will admit, instead of baking on Sunday like I normally would, I baked yesterday while the boys were at school.
Baking Therapy
With the boys at school and a warm cup of coffee in hand, I headed to the kitchen. Baking is one of those activities that always lifts my spirits. The familiar routine of measuring ingredients, mixing dough, and the smell of cookies in the oven feels like the ultimate comfort—especially when I’m not feeling my best.
I stuck to my Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies this time, but with a twist! The Bills played last night so I wanted to make something fun. What did I make? A cookie cake! I used my normal recipe but tweaked it a bit and you can make it too. All I did was lower the temperature to 325 and then bake for 25 minutes in a 9″ cake pan. I let both cool for about 20 minutes before removing them from the pan. Something about those melty chocolate chips and chewy centers just feels like the perfect remedy for a stuffy nose and scratchy throat!

A New Week, More Baking!
So, while the cold may have slowed me down a bit this weekend, I’m already looking ahead to more cookie creations. Fall is officially here, and I’m excited to experiment with more seasonal flavors (hello, pumpkin spice everything!).
Thanks for sticking with me while I rest up. Hopefully, I’ll be back to full strength soon and sharing more recipes and mom moments with all of you!
